Mitzi's Memory, created to build awareness about Oesophagitis Strictures in cats, an often fatal condition. The most common causes are from damage to the oesophagus after anesthetic, or burns caused by the commonly used drug family tetracycline.

We lost our much loved Balinese in 2009 from this condition, and are still trying to find answers as to why she died after a routine spay operation. It is too late for Mitzi, but after spending many hours researching this dreadful condition, we want to share our findings in the hope that sharing our knowledge could save other cats.

Please take time to read this website especially the importance of correct administration of the drugs, and signs to watch after anesthetic. Share this to as many cat owners as you can. We will be adding more information as we find it, and welcome any similar experiences should you have them.

We don't want Mitzi to ever be forgotten, and her name will hopefully help to make more vets, drug companies, and pet owners aware of the dangers and ensure that Mitzi's sad story is not repeated.
